Ann Curry

Ann Curry, an American photographer and journalist who has covered natural and war-related disasters for nearly 45 years. Her focus is on the human suffering suffered by people in these areas. Curry was a reporter in war-zones such as Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry was an American journalist, TV news reporter and host best known for her work as a reporter on the Today program which is a morning-time broadcast news program aired on NBC. Curry was noted especially for her work on reporting the humanitarian crisis in war-ravaged countries as well as on natural disasters. Curry is the daughter of an U.S. Navy sailor and the daughter of a Japanese woman. Curry's parents were married in Japan, the country where her father was stationed following World War II. As a result of her father's active military service, the family relocated often. They finally settled in Ashland Oregon where Curry attended the high school. Curry graduated in 1978 with the degree of Bachelor's in Journalism from the University of Oregon. Curry moved around a lot together with her husband but she did not attend a school for longer than two full years. She went to schools located in San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia. In the end, she was able to graduate from Ashland High School. Her first job could lead to a successful job by becoming a broadcasting intern for KTVL Channel 10 Medford. She was the first female news anchor at this station at the age of 22. Then she was promoted to the post of anchor and reporter at KGW an NBC station in Portland, Oregan. After four years, she relocated in Los Angeles and became a reporter for KCBS TV. During the six years she worked for KCBS, she was awarded two Emmy Awards.
